Classes 808 through 812 will be taking the regents this coming June. Some students will only take the living environment or algebra regents, others will take both. Overall, everyone is nervous about the tests that are coming. For those of you who don’t know, the regents are tests that you typically take in high school, they are required to earn credits needed to graduate. There are two types of regents, the algebra regents and the science living environment regents. The regents give you high school credits while you are still in eighth grade. Once you get to ninth grade, you can take tenth grade classes because you have already took the ninth grade courses in eighth grade. A few students were interviewed based on their opinion towards the regents, when asked: Is being in a regents class challenging? One students said, “Yes because it’s above grade level” another student said, “Yes because there are high expectations for you.” When the students were asked: Are you nervous about the regents? A student said, “I’m not nervous because I am in a regents class which means I am capable of taking the test and getting a good grade on it.” Another student said; “Yes because algebra can be complicated for me.” Algebra teacher Ms.Strong said, “Taking a high school level test can be intimidating… Luckily, we have experienced teachers that are working hard to prepare our Algebra students for the exam. If you listen to your teacher’s advice, complete all your homework, study, and go to extra help if you are confused, then there is no reason to be scared.”
So, to all the students that are taking the regents in June we wish you, GOOD LUCK!
