Cheerleading
By:Kimberly Ortiz,Natalia Gonzalez (712) and Camila Aguirre (613) This year the Bleeker Cheer team is back and they are bigger and better! The team is always cheering for the sports we have here at Bleeker. In cheer, teamwork between the cheerleaders is a key component of their success. Cheerleaders will always be seen with a smile on their face and trying to cheer other people up too. While practicing, they learn and teach each other new cheers for the games they go to. The Bleeker Bulletin got the chance to interview Ms. Tonis (8th grade science teacher/cheer coach) and some of the cheerleaders about how they feel about cheerleading. Q: Why did you want to coach cheer? A: Ms.Tonis: “I like to get to know students outside of the classroom. I also like to help students do what they love.” Q:how has Cheer affected your life? A: Alyssa Baez 714: “I learned how to express my Wildcat spirit at the games and I get to socialize with the athletes and the other cheerleaders.” Q: What do you like about Cheer? A: Sehada Mrkulic 802: “We have a giant group of friends, and we are all so close. Cheer is very fun to do, we get to cheer and show our Wildcat spirit at all the basketball and soccer games, and I get to have fun times with the girls.” Everyone should go see the cheerleaders showing their school spirit at the Bleeker games!!! Special thanks to all the people that were interviewed! Make sure you support our amazing Bleeker cheerleaders! by Julia Carpio Cheating… almost everyone does it at least once in their lifetime. Whether it’s writing inside a bottle wrapper, looking up answers, or writing answers on an eraser most people have cheated some way.. About 73% of all students have cheated on school tests. Most people believe that cheaters never get caught, so most students cheat because of peer or academic pressure, chances of being caught are low, and their workload is heavy. Students also cheat because they are competitive and want to get the best score in class or do better than someone they don’t like. In our school, 27% said that they try not to cheat. 41% said that their classmates have never been caught cheating. Only 5% of students admitted to cheating every day. Almost all students said that they copy each other's answers, use Google answers and said that they share assignments. Cheating is common all over the world, and most of the time, no teachers see it happen, until it's too late…….So, don’t do it!!! Classes 808 through 812 will be taking the regents this coming June. Some students will only take the living environment or algebra regents, others will take both. Overall, everyone is nervous about the tests that are coming. For those of you who don’t know, the regents are tests that you typically take in high school, they are required to earn credits needed to graduate. There are two types of regents, the algebra regents and the science living environment regents. The regents give you high school credits while you are still in eighth grade. Once you get to ninth grade, you can take tenth grade classes because you have already took the ninth grade courses in eighth grade. A few students were interviewed based on their opinion towards the regents, when asked: Is being in a regents class challenging? One students said, “Yes because it’s above grade level” another student said, “Yes because there are high expectations for you.” When the students were asked: Are you nervous about the regents? A student said, “I’m not nervous because I am in a regents class which means I am capable of taking the test and getting a good grade on it.” Another student said; “Yes because algebra can be complicated for me.” Algebra teacher Ms.Strong said, “Taking a high school level test can be intimidating… Luckily, we have experienced teachers that are working hard to prepare our Algebra students for the exam. If you listen to your teacher’s advice, complete all your homework, study, and go to extra help if you are confused, then there is no reason to be scared.”
So, to all the students that are taking the regents in June we wish you, GOOD LUCK! Sadly, our beloved parent coordinator Mrs. Meyers is retiring, but before she did we got a couple of questions as we said goodbye.

A4: “I was a museum educator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and I raised two boys.” Q5: what is your favorite memory from 185 ?
